Sightseeing in Kos City

Kos City is a very pleasant place, despite the the hordes of tourists that invade it each summer. The scattered ruins, of predominantly Roman origin, evoke the impression of a huge open-air museum.

Amongst the architectural monuments left by the Knights Hospitallers is the imposing 15th C fortress, close to the harbour. Unfortunately the fortress was severely damaged by an earthquake in 1933. Visiting times are from 9:00 to 15:00 daily, except Tuesdays.
