Kos is a fairly flat island, the central massif of Dikeos being the only area to rise above 800m. The main roads are asphalted and meanwhile the dirt track leading to Kardamena in the East has been extended too. Visitors interested in renting a car or moped will find numerous rental companies along the tourist beaches and in larger towns.

The island's nightlife is mostly centred in and around the City of Kos. Mediterranean nightlife can be somewhat indefatigable, so previous inquiries, as to whether hotels or hostels are located on a main road or not, are strongly recommended. There is a wide choice of pubs, cafes, bars and clubs, serving all tastes and preferences in and around Kos City.
