Tours to the Interior

The most beautiful landscapes Kos has in store are found towards the centre of the island.

Little villages esconced in the hills invite holiday-makers to experience the serene, traditionally Greek way of life. Since the island is barely 50km long, it can easily be explored within a day. The ideal way to do so is either with a rental car or on a scooter.

Though helmets are mandatory, the officials are usually quite relaxed about enforcing this rule. Keep an eye out for more regular checks in the summer months though; after all it is for your own safety. Rental mopeds used to be somewhat tuned, but with the advent of modern scooters things tend to be a little more regulated.

Numerous organizers also offer jeep tours across the interior of the island. Caution and nonagressive driving behaviour are never a bad idea when renting a car or bike.
